Detailed Guide: Places to Visit with Two Days Manali to Kullu and Manikaran Tour by Car

In these two days at Kullu and Manikaran, our guests will be visiting the following sites of interest :

1. Lord Ramchandra Temple

Lord Ramchandra Temple

First up on the two day private tour, one of the highly visited temples of Manikaran and of Himachal Pradesh, Lord Ramchandra Temple, was built under the patronage of Raja Jagat Singh in the 17th century and the temple was redecorated by Raja Dilip Singh in 1889.

The idol of Lord Ram installed here is believed to have been brought straight from Ram’s hometown of Ayodhya and put up in this temple by the Raja of Kulu but this claim lacks a historic confirmation.

An idol of goddess Sita accompanies that of Lord Rama in this temple. It is said that there was also an image of Lakshman, which is no longer in existence. You will experience the calm of spirituality and the holy charm of a historic temple here, where pilgrims have offered prayers for many years.

  • Must See / Things Do: Take a close look at the walls of the temple as they have breathtaking artistry.

2. Hot Springs

Hot Springs

Manikaran is a small town set amidst rivers Parvati and Beas, and best known for its hot water springs and noteworthy landscapes. It is at a distance of 42 KM from Kullu and can be reached by private rental car in one and a half hour via Manikaran road. The hot springs of Manikaran are situated near the bank of Parvati river.

The hot water springs emerge at various points and are spread over a distance of about 1.3 KM along the river all up to Brahmaganga. The springs of Manikaran are very hot and come out of the earth by high pressure.

There is no sulfur or iron mixed in the waters but they are believed to be radioactive.

The healing properties of the Manikaran hot springs are well known and pilgrims from all over the country visit to cure their ailments. Rheumatism and muscular pains are said to be most efficiently cured by these hot water springs.

  • Must See / Things Do: Stop here for a short while and dip your feet in the hot springs for an unparalleled experience of calmness.

3. Shiva Temple

Shiva Temple

Bijli-Mahadev temple houses a Shiva Lingam and is situated in a meadow amidst lush green forests at a distance of 14 KM from Kullu. This place got its name after the great miracle that occurs whenever the lingam is struck by lightning and breaks into pieces. The priest of the temple then has to collect all the pieces and join them together with the help of butter and sattoo.

During Shivaratri every year, the temple hosts hundreds of devotees who gather here to pay homage to Lord Shiva. The temple is located at an altitude of about 2,438 m in the Kullu Valley, almost 14 km from the town centre and can be easily reached by car travel.

The temple can also be visited by a difficult but rewarding trek of 3 KM. If you are in good health, then we recommend trekking through the jungles, orchids and small villages that lie on the way to the temple but for a faster and less tiring journey, you should prefer car travel.

  • Must See / Things Do: A panoramic view of Kullu and Parvati Valley can be seen from the temple.

4. Sri Guru Nanak Ji Gurudwara

Sri Guru Nanak Ji Gurudwara

Sri Guru Nanak Ji Gurudwara in Manikaran village of Kullu in Himachal Pradesh is a peaceful and tranquil sacred shrine that is believed to be the place of penance for Shiva and Parvati. Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the guru of the Sikhs visited this holy temple during the 15th century.

The interiors of the Gurudwara have the mirror effect which is pretty charming, and hence is also known as “Sheesh Mahal” among tourists. The Gurudwara serves langar to its visitors all day long. Do remember to maintain peace and quiet and dress modestly while visiting this place of worship.

  • Must See / Things Do: Check out the river by the Gurudwara that has warm water flowing at one end and cold water on the other.

5. Kasol Valley

Kasol Valley

A destination occupied mostly by Israeli inhabitants and hippies from our own country, the Kasol Valley has all of nature’s blessings including the mighty and beautiful Parvati river. It also forms a trekking base-camp for Kheerganga and Malana.

Tourists are welcomed to this enchanting valley with the sights of snow clad Himalayas, picturesque landscape, and clear blue sky.

Located in the cherished lap of Parvati valley alongside Parvati River, this remote village is a blessing for adventure buffs, trekkers and backpackers.

With a pleasant climate all round the year and low population density, this wonderful place is a favourite with family vacationers as well as adventure sports enthusiasts and will definitely be a favorite for you on your two day tour in Kullu and Manikaran.

  • Must See / Things Do: A tourist hub for Israelis, various cafes and restaurants in Kasol have signs written in Hebrew and serve great food from all around the world so definitely try some of the unique cuisines.

6. Kullu Shawl Weaving Industry

Kullu Shawl Weaving Industry

We won’t let your private cab tour be over without collecting some souvenirs to take back home. Kullu shawl weaving industries craft various varieties of shawls such as pashmina shawls, Kinnauri and Kullu Shawls which are very different from the traditional cashmere flower designs. These shawls have Asian inspired geometrical designs and a replication of the local art.

You will also find 3D effect traditional Buddhist painting of either a Tibetan deity or some other spiritual artifacts in the city market. Kullu Caps are made of pure pashmina and angora wool. The caps reflect the aesthetics and excellent skills of the artisans of Kullu. We think shopping for winter wear from Kullu makes for great souvenirs from this pretty place!
