1. Tiger Hill

Tiger Hill

Tiger Hill is located at a distance of only 13 KM from Darjeeling. The first stop of your Darjeeling local sightseeing tour is perched at a height of 2,590 metres. Dawn and early mornings are the best time to visit Tiger Hill to enjoy a clear view of the glorious Kanchenjunga peak. Tiger Hill is also the summit of Ghoom. Ghoom is the highest railway station in the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. As mentioned earlier, the railway line is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The main attractions of Tiger Hill are its serene natural beauty and panoramic view of the hills of Darjeeling. You will also be able to spot a great many varieties of shrubs and flowers. The lofty height of Tiger Hill obstructs any cloud passing through it. This allows visitors to touch clouds at the summit of the hill!

If you carry a pair of binoculars, you will be able to see mountaineers hiking the Mt Everest and Kanchenjunga routes. From Tiger Hill, you will also be able to get a bird’s eye view of the town of Kurseong and Teesta, Mahananda, Mechi and Balason rivers.

  • Must See / Things Do:: The most spectacular time to visit Tiger Hill is at sunrise. The sun rises through the peaks of Kanchenjunga and lends a golden hue to the mountains.
